So I've been using this foundation for a week now and I thought it's time for a review! Before we start, I have combination skin: normal-dry, so I always moisturise my skin before applying the foundation.
This foundation is in the shade '1W1 BONE', and for my skin tone it is absolutely perfect. It matches my skin tone amazingly. Estée Lauder have so many shades in this foundation which I was very impressed with, so there is a shade out there for you!
The application: I found the application of this foundation quite tricky to start of with, but now I've got my own technique that suits me! When I first applied the foundation I found it very cakey and for some reason it didn't work very well with my nose.
But now, I have found that applying the tiniest bit to each part of your face works so much more better, it doesn't look as cakey and makes your skin look natural.
When I put the foundation on my nose, it went patchy and flaky, even with me moisturising and applying my primer. I was applying the foundation with a regular foundation brush. But I have found that with using my Real Techniques Buffing Brush, the product on my nose looks so much more flawless and natural!
Also, the foundation doesn't come with a pump, you have to pour out the product, but M·A·C's foundation pump fit perfectly if you just trim the end of the tube, which helps you use less product and makes the foundation longer.
The coverage: I have quite red skin, blemishes and red marks on my skin, and they are quite hard to cover. After hearing the great reviews about the coverage I was very very excited to use the foundation as many stated that they didn't have to use concealer. But in my case I still have too. The foundation does give a good coverage, but on my red marks and blemishes it doesn't cover them too good. I still have to use my concealer to cover them and then apply the foundation, this covers them better with just the foundation on its own. I was disappointed to find it didn't cover as well as I thought but I found a way for me personally to make my blemishes disappear!
Another good point with this foundation is that you don't have to powder after the application. Once the foundation has settled into the skin it goes quite powdery so you don't have to bother with applying a powder, which helps with avoiding the cakey look that some foundations give. I personally, powder the places I conceal to help keep the concealer and foundation in place all day, which works well for me!
Lastly, this foundation does stay all day! I put my make up on at about 6.30am and go to college till 7.30pm and it still looks amazing and flawless and doesn't get shiny which is a big big pro about this foundation.
All in all, this foundation is very good! It retails at £28.50 which is quite expensive for the product but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for! This has been one of the best foundations I've come across and I will be repurchasing this again. I do recommend this foundation, but its all personal preference. I hope this review helped you guys though.
Whats your favourite foundation?
